In order to better help field personnel in the identification of the various grenades in
adverse, low light conditions, Precision Ordnance Products, Inc. has color coded each of the
grenades for easy identification. In addition, each munition has a letter designation which will
tell you what type of munition you have in your hand.

“T”Designates a full stun grenade. These include the T-429, T-459, T-460, T-444, T-465, T-
470 and T-471. All of these devices have a red label. The T-459, and T-471 have in addition to
the red label, a red end cap which designates that it is loaded with the ultra flash powder. The T-
470 and T-471 are magnum grenades that are twice as powerful as the standard stun grenades and
produces 10 PSI, 185 decibels of sound and 3,000,000 candle power of light at 2 1/2 meters (7
feet.)

“D”Designates a diversion / distraction munition, which is used to distract, confuse and
disorient, but will not stun. Both our D-450 and D-451 have 7 separate sub-munitions which
when ejected from the main body, scatter around a room or an area and detonate one at a time,
over a nominal 3 second period of time. The D-400 training grenade has a reusable aluminum
body with a variety of screw in busters. It can also be used as a single bang-diversionary device.
These grenades have a yellow label and the D-451 has a red end cap.

“I”All munitions beginning with the letter “I” are less than lethal, impact behavior modification
anti personnel devices. There are three models. The I-452, I-454 and the I-453. The I-452 and
I-454 are loaded with .45 caliber soft rubber balls which exit the devices in excess of 400 feet per
second. They are both full stun devices. Both cause extreme pain but will not penetrate skin. The
I-453 is a powered down version of the I-452 and, although it is very effective, it is not a stun
munition. These munitions have a green label.

“G”All gas grenades are designated with a “G”. This includes the G-310 bursting gas grenade
available in CS, CN, or OC gas. Any grenade with a “G” after the model number, (ie. I-452 - G)
is a combination device. As an example, the I-452-G is a full stun grenade as well as an impact
device and a gas grenade. They have a yellow label.

“B”Munitions marked with a letter “B” are breaching charges. Examples would be the B-530,
B-540, B-550, B-521, B-531, and the B-541. Entry teams around the world are using these
products to successfully breach most any structure. They have a red label.
